Going camping doesnât always mean the same thing to everyone. Some are going out to reconnect with nature, others are going to get away from technology, and some bring everything but the kitchen sink with them, and only went because they want a change in scenery. While most of us arenât terribly adventurous in our excursions into the wild, that doesnât mean that something wonât go wrong.
If you have an emergency come up while youâre out hiking at night, and are too far out to receive signal on your phone, youâre going to have to find a different way to acquire help. Yelling at the top of your lungs may work, but thatâs only if thereâs anyone around to hear you. Youâll need a signal like the Expedition Sky Flare if you want to get any notice.
This is a slingshot sort of setup in which you set the little rocket that has an LED on it and send it flying into the air. Youâll need to make sure you actually turn on the light before you toss it up though. Once launched, it can go up to 50â² vertically, and is said to make a whistling sound as it returns to the ground. This will only cost around $8, and would also be fun for playing with at night. Just so long as youâre not using it in the woods where people might think youâre in real danger (boy who cried wolf if you catch my drift).
