Plantronics RIG is a headset and mixer for gamers on the go

by Caitlyn - on September 30th, 2013

RIG_black_headset_mixer

We all want things to be as easy as possible. Just browsing through this site, you’ll likely find a few things that were only made to make our lives easier for simple tasks (for a price of course). We have a few go-to items that we always keep around like our phones, e-readers, and laptops. While they make some aspect so our lives easier, the transition between them can be a bit difficult. Take playing a round of League of Legends for example.

When you’re playing, you can’t very well pause the game and talk on your phone, especially when you’re in a call with your teammates. This is the case for just about any other multiplayer game as well. Plantronics must have seen our woes, and decided to make a headset that would take care of this and many other issues. It is called RIG, which is a headset and mixer combination that will work with your Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Mac, and mobile devices.

This allows you to seamlessly move from one device to the other with a single touch. You can take a call or adjust your music volume to your liking in the middle of a game. It has an inline mic as well as a detachable boom for on-the-go jamming or stationary game time. This is great for those of us who like to have a lot of different devices handy, and don’t want to have to stop and make a shift to change between them. This will cost you around $130, and seems like it might be worth the expense.

LG announces the LG SoundPlate speaker system

by - on September 29th, 2013

lg-soundplateLG Electronics has announced a brand new speaker system which will boast a minimalist design while offering a huge audio boost to your home entertainment center, calling it the LG SoundPlate. Having revealed at CEDIA 2013, the LG SoundPlate, carrying the model number LAP340, is said to help usher in a new generation of home theater audio systems and it has been optimized for today’s flat-panel HDTVs.

Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, home entertainment, LG Electronics USA, said, “The tradeoff for the ultra thin TV design has been smaller speakers, which has led to a surge in demand for supplementary home audio devices. We’re augmenting our already robust line of soundbars with the LG SoundPlate to give consumers yet another alternative for powerful home entertainment sound in a compact, attractive design.” So that’s how we know where they are coming from.

The LG SoundPlate will work its magic by providing high-quality audio while maintaining an aesthetic that is minimally obtrusive. It has a profile of just 1-3/8 inches (35 millimeters) high, but do not be fooled as the LG SoundPlate will come equipped with a robust 4.1 channel sound system that is complete with dual built-in subwoofers.

Apart from that, there is also a 120W output that has been boosted by a unique internal structure alongside LG’s proprietary acoustic tuning system, making it easier for everyone to hear dialog and other discrete sounds whenever they are watching TV shows or movies. Not just content with that, the LG SoundPlate will also feature LG’s Bass Port system that helps lower harmful vibrations from within the speaker enclosure.

When set to LG’s Cinema Mode, it will optimize the LAP340′s surround sound capabilities, resulting in an immersive field of multidirectional audio. Additional functionality can be found in LG’s Sound Sync, which is driven by Bluetooth capabilities, allowing users to pair the device with other compatible devices â€" phones included, so that users are able to stream music sans wires when in range. Talk about another cable clutter reducing measure!

There is no word on pricing as at press time, but the LAP340 LG SoundPlate is tipped to arrive via US retailers from October onward.

Tony Stark Light-Up LED Iron Man 3 Shirt

by - on May 3rd, 2013

Between Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne, which playboy millionaire would you prefer to be? Of course, you don’t see Batman duking it out with demigods and the like, but if Batman could still beat Superman in a punch out, what makes you think that the world’s greatest detective is not able to defeat whatever legions of hell or extra terrestrials that intend to invade earth? Thing is, Iron Man is so much cooler as he zips around the air and has so much more destructive power than Batman’s cape and cowl get up. The coolest thing about Iron Man’s suit would be the arc reactor that powers the entire shebang, and if you ever wanted to play the role of Tony Stark without his suit on, then this $29.99 Tony Stark Light-Up LED Iron Man 3 Shirt would be the ideal piece of clothing for you.

Specially modeled after the arc reactor in Iron Man 3, it might not be able to prevent shrapnel from reaching your heart, but it might help melt the heart of a geek loving girl whom you have had a crush on all the while. The thing is, you might want to remember to remove the electronics and trio of AAA batteries from the shirt before you send it for washing, otherwise it is going to short circuit, unlike the real deal that Tony Stark has. Hey, what do you expect, and just how far do you think 30 bucks is going to stretch these days?

Wireless Bicycle Turn Signal

by - on May 23rd, 2013

Being a cyclist might be the healthier and more environmentally friendly option for you to get to work (short of walking within reasonable distance and time limit, of course), but cycling too, comes with its fair share of hazards. I am referring to other motorists on the road who do not really bother with your safety, preferring instead to honk in your direction just for fun, seeing you jump out of your skin, to others who really did not see you because they were driving too fast or were inebriated. Not only that, whenever you want to make a turn to the left or to the right, letting go of the handlebar to indicate the direction with your hand carries its fair share of risks, which is where the $59.99 Wireless Bicycle Turn Signal comes in handy.

The name of the Wireless Bicycle Turn Signal itself gives the game away, where its main purpose is to increase your visibility especially in low light conditions while reducing the chances of mishaps or accidents happening. This wireless turn signal unit will attach to your rear seat post and the push button controller is attached to the handlebars for easy accessibility. The ultra bright LED signal and audible beeping sound do their parts to alert other bikers and motorists of your intentions way in advance, and it is water resistant as well as powered by a replaceable CR2032 battery for the remote, with a trio of AAA batteries powering the pod.

Sprout Pencils spring new life into a dead writing utensil

by Caitlyn - on September 23rd, 2013

Sprout Pencils

It seems silly, but you can get attached to a writing implement over time. One pencil can become so familiar to you that you feel as though it is an extension of your arm in the same way a sword would be for a warrior. Those who opt to not use a mechanical pencil are faced with the inevitable task of having to throw away the tiniest nub of a pencil.

If you don’t want to waste any of your utensil, then start using Sprout Pencils instead. These are familiar in that they are graphite pencils surrounded by wood. They sharpen the same way, and look about the same as any other. However, these have a little surprise at the end, much like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

In the very end of this pencil are three seeds for herbs that you can plant in a pot. Of course, you will have to water and provide access to sunlight for it to do anything, but it’s a nice thought to get continual use out of a pencil even when you can’t use it for its original purpose anymore. Smelling of cedar, they are sustainably harvested, and will start sprouting whenever they hit water. That being said, no chewing on the end, and try not to leave this out while it’s raining. One set of eight pencils will cost you around $33, and comes with basil, coriander, dill, mint, parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.

by - on August 2nd, 2013

infrared-supine-saunaIt goes without saying that rewarding yourself for a job well done is essential in keeping your self-esteem up, and it could also provide the impetus to perform even better down the road. Let’s just say that you received a nice, big fat commission from the boss, and would like to splurge a little bit at home. Instead of purchasing a new car, or making that long overdue renovation to your house, how about settling for the $14,000 Infrared Supine Sauna? No longer do you need to go to the local club and pay to use their sauna facilities, as with the Infrared Supine Sauna, you can enjoy your very own sauna sessions in the comfort of your own home.

Not only that, since this is a personal sauna unit, you need not carry out conversations with complete strangers, and your privacy is assured. All you need to do is lie in a comfortable supine position as the infrared lamps within will provide deep penetrating, soothing heat. The sauna itself is gently sloped in order for you to place your legs slightly above the heart, which is always the more relaxed position. A quartet of infrared lamps will generate enough heat that can penetrates deep into tissue, where it increases subcutaneous temperature by up to 2º F to relieve swelling and improve the mobility of tendons and ligaments. Within the sauna bed surface itself lies 440 jade stones, which will be used to relax the nervous system. Could this be one of the rare purchases that you can make without angering your other half?

Compose by Ouyang Xi – Your Music Writes Itself

by Julie - on May 25th, 2013

I hate to admit that I took 2 years of guitar lessons and I can only play the first few cords of Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water. I guess I’m one of those people who simply isn’t musically inclined. I used to write some poetry that I would have loved to turn into songs, but I couldn’t read or write music either. So I guess it’s safe to say I’m not destined to be a rock star.

All hope is not lost! Check out Compose by Ouyang Xi, a concept device designed to allow the musically challenged to actually get their melodies on paper. The pen on this digital clipboard acts as a microphone, allowing you to whistle or play a tune into it, and then when docked into the digital tablet, the harmonies will automatically be transcribed into a score. The Compose would also allow you to write directly on the display in order to “record” your tunes, before the thoughts of them are lost forever.

The designer, Ouyang Xi, would also like to see this concept contain libraries that would include sounds for an entire orchestra so that your final masterpiece can play in all it’s splendor, for everyone to enjoy. Of course it’s only a concept for now, but it gives hope to so many of us that have been walking around with the next hit recording buzzing around in our heads.

That’s all I know for now, it certainly is a concept I’d like to see go to production someday, I knew I had rock star potential, I just need a little help. Check out yankodesigns.com for updates or more information.

Automatic Electronic Pet Door

by - on May 25th, 2013

When it comes to dog owners, I would say that I can classify them into two different groups â€" the first would not mind Fido staying indoors with them, jumping into the same sofa while they munch on popcorn and watch the favorite soppy movie together, getting fur all over the place, while the other group would be one that is so strict, anything four legged is not allowed through the front door. Well, if you happen to fall under the first category, you can always check out the Automatic Electronic Pet Door, where it will come in $799.95 and $859.95 models.

The Automatic Electronic Pet Door is pretty much self-descriptive â€" it will be able to open itself up automatically whenever a pet approaches it in the right direction. Installing it is a snap, where it goes into a sliding patio door frame, and whenever a pet that wears the included ultrasonic collar comes within 1′ to 10′ (you as the owner can set the distance), the pet door will automatically open to let the pet in or out. There is also the added flexibility of allowing the door can to be restricted in a way where a pet can only enter or leave the house or to prevent the door from opening. It is built with quality, thanks to a rigid aluminum frame, dual pane window made of hermetically sealed, tempered glass, and air-tight pet door which locks with a dead bolt to deliver a secure, weathertight barrier.

Well, Amazon has heeded that call, and just in case you are unable to purchase one of their recently announced higher end Kindle Fire HDX models with LTE connectivity, you might want to settle for something which is pretty proficient at what it does best without burning too large a hole in your pocket along the way. Despite the relatively affordable price in comparison to its rivals, the Kindle Fire HD is not one that comes with less inferior hardware. Oppo N1 delivers a new mobile photography experience

by - on September 24th, 2013

oppo-n1How many of you do take advantage of your smartphone’s camera as the primary digital camera instead of using the DSLR or Micro Four Thirds shooter that you purchased a while back? I suppose important functions would still see you whip out that full sized camera, but most of the time, the smartphone’s camera has advanced to a point where it is capable of taking “good enough” photos for everyday use. Oppo intends to change the way we snap photos using our smartphones, with the launch of their latest flagship device, the Oppo N1.

The Oppo N1 holds the distinction of being the first smartphone from the spanking new N-Lens flagship series that will feature a rotating camera, now how about that? Not only that, there is also a rear touch panel that will work in tandem with the generous touchscreen display, where every single bit of the design has been thought up of in advance to deliver a totally new smartphone experience to the masses.

Arriving in only one color â€" white, the Oppo N1 will tip the scales at 213 grams with its body that measures 170.7mm x 82.6mm x 9mm, and it will run on Oppo’s special Color OS that is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Underneath the hood you will also be able to find a quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with an Adreno 320 GPU, sporting 2GB RAM alongside an internal memory capacity of either 16GB or 32GB, depending on your budget. Powering the Oppo N1 would be a rather beefy 3,610 mAh battery, which would come in handy throughout the whole day since it sports a 5.9″ Full HD IPS display at a whopping 377ppi pixel density.

Not only that, it has a 13-megapixel shooter with dual mode LED and f/2.0 aperture, which can rotate at a cool 206-degrees so that you can capture images from angles that you never imagined possible with a regular smartphone camera. Not only that, the camera will securely lock at any angle, and hopefully the mechanism will be able to stand the test of time! Pricing details for the Oppo N1 remain to be confirmed, but we do know that it is slated for a December release.

Star Trek Communicator Dog Bag Dispenser, for when your dog has to boldly go

by - on August 28th, 2013

star_trek_communicator_dog_poop_bag

Space really is the final frontier. However, the vast majority of us will never get any closer to the stars than can be achieved in a regular airplane. That doesn’t stop us from gazing through a telescope and dreaming, though. Of course, that’s not the only way we can pretend to be exploring the vast emptiness. Sometimes we want to pretend that we’re a part of the crew of the USS Enterprise, making contact on an uncharted world. Well now you have one more excuse to make believe whenever you’re out walking your dog.

The Star Trek Communicator Dog Bag Dispenser is an amusing novelty item that will go perfectly with the Captian’s Chair Dog Bed that we recently wrote about. In fact, all you need now is a Starfleet uniform for your pooch. Then, when people ask you why you’re carrying that Star Trek communicator around, you can say that it’s for the captain’s log.

This accessory features raised plastic buttons to provide the most accurate feel possible. You’ll also find a plastic clip so that it attaches to your leash, and won’t get lost. A zipper runs along the outer edges so that you can store the little plastic bags inside. The Communicator won’t be shipping until November, but you can pre-order it now for $20.

Vinylize turns old records into glasses

by - on July 10th, 2013

The last few years have given rise to a new breed of people. They can be found at vegan coffee shops, using the Instagram app to take “artistic” photos of their coffee next to a book that looks interesting, so that they can tweet it to their friends. We call these people “hipsters.” When not in a coffee shop, you can also find them in record stores, letting you know why you shouldn’t listen to music unless it’s on vinyl, because digital music is an affront to your ears. Hipsters do tend to be fashionable, which is why I’m not surprised to see a company making glasses that are marketed to this specific demographic.

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand the appeal of listening to vinyl. I just think that some people take it to an extreme. A company called Vinylize is more than happy to take money from these people however. By bonding a vinyl record with cellulose acetate, they are able to cut out the frames for a pair of glasses that will let everyone know just how much you love your records.

The glasses come in a variety of styles, including the classic hipster frames that you see above. You’re going to be paying a hefty premium on these, however. For a pair of sunglasses, you’re looking at around $440. If you want prescription lenses, you’ll need to send them an email for a quote. I actually think the concept of recycling old records is a great one, however, the price is going to be hard for all but the most fanatical of vinyl lovers.

Tiger Shark Warplane Ceiling Fan looks like a P-40 Warhawk crashed through your roof

by - on June 28th, 2013

When I was a kid, one of my dreams was to become a pilot. I blame the movie Top Gun for most of that desire, but my heart wasn’t necessarily set on an F-14 Tomcat, anything that could fly was good enough for me. Airplane, helicopter, space ship, it really didn’t matter. Naturally, this meant that I had a lot of toys of these various flying vehicles. While these things made me happy, I’d have loved just about anything flying-related in my room, including furniture.

If you have a kid that’s anything like I was, then I would highly recommend checking out this cool Tiger Shark Warplane Ceiling Fan. When I first looked at it, I realized just how brilliant the design was. The fan is designed to look like the nose of an old P-40 fighter, which, if you know your jets, had a three-bladed propeller on it. They captured many of the details of the fighter, right down to the shape and coloring of the blades.

Other than the resemblance to a World War II fighter jet, there really isn’t that much that sets this ceiling fan apart from the rest. IT has a 3-speed motor, and uses a 60-watt candelabra bulb for illuminating your room. The $261 price tag is a rather hefty premium over your standard ceiling fan, but can you really put a price on a child’s happiness?

It doesn’t leave my hands free to talk on the phone or carry packages, and worst of all, there’s always the threat of leaving it somewhere. Forget your Keys? Use Your Smartphone!

by Julie - on April 19th, 2013

Sure, its happened to me more than once. I lost my house keys, left them in the wrong car, or forgot to give them to my mother who was stopping over to feed the dog. It’s a simple thing, and I should have just taken the time to have extra keys made, or hidden one under the doormat, but in this day and age I’m not sure anyone does that anymore.

Well, First Watch Security is bringing you a nifty home entry alternative, forget your keys and garage door openers, why not use your Smartphone? Working with a smartphone that employs Bluetooth 4.0 and utilizing a 128 bit encryption, The First Watch Security Smart Deadbolt or SecuRemote lets you access your doors or garage with your phone.

Any users you authorize can operate the Smart Deadbolts or garage doors via the SecuRemote app simply by tapping the unlock or lock icons on a Smartphone.  Not only can you decide who gets access to your home, but when. This application works with your existing garage door opener and requires only the simple addition of an access control device. Whereas the Smart Deadbolt works with all standard door preparations, is installed with only a screwdriver, and it can run for up to two years on four AA batteries.

Okay, I guess I could like this. SecuRemote for your garage is available now, for only around 149 bucks, the Smart Deadbolt is making its way around the home show circuit and should be available soon. Check out firstwatchsecurity.com for updates, pricing, and more information. So now I suppose, I have to keep track of my phone and worry about someone hacking their way into my house? Does Bluetooth enabled home entry delight or terrify you? … Let us know.

Genius Mouse & Camera combines two unlikely devices

by - on August 20th, 2013

Genius_Cam_Mouse

There are certain things in life that just go together. Peanut butter and jelly, Macaroni and cheese, Simon and Garfunkel, the list can go on. Hardware manufacturers know that this is true, and occasionally they’ll step outside the box and start adding in features to their products that go naturally together. This is why cell phones have cameras, newer TV’s can access the internet, and many keyboards have special media keys to control the music and movies on your PC. However, sometimes the pairing of functions doesn’t always make the most sense.

Genius recently announced their All-in-One Mouse & Camera, which, as you can guess from the name, serves as both a mouse, and a digital camera. Though I think that having two functions doesn’t really deserve the title of “all-in-one”, but that’s just me.

The mouse is a pretty standard 1200 DPI pointer with just the two regular buttons, and a scrollwheel. On the camera side of things, you’ve got a 2.0 MP sensor, which can shoot at up to 720p, and a dedicated shutter button. You can switch between modes by sliding the panel on the underside of the mouse to reveal either the mouse sensor, or camera lens. You’ll apparently be able to instantly post the pictures on social media sites, and edit the photos with the included tools. With most people having a decent camera on their phones these days, I don’t see a lot of everyday uses for something like this. Perhaps an office that regularly takes pictures of documents or small objects might find it useful, though. If this is a must-have for you, then you’re looking at a price of $35.

GameCase iOS game controller brings mobile gaming to the next level

by - on September 21st, 2013

gamecaseWhen the iPhone 5s was first announced, one of the things that blew away the audience was the fact that its 64-bit processor, working in tandem with some great coding, could deliver some high quality graphics in a game. Of course, a full touchscreen display is not going to be optimal when it comes to some of the more complex games out there, not to mention you would always have a finger (or two) appearing on the display, blocking out your view in select parts that might just dampen your portable gaming experience. What is needed would be a physical controller, and this is where the GameCase iOS game controller comes in handy.

The GameCase is meant to propel mobile gaming to unprecedented heights, where it will redefine the way games are played on the iPad as well as iPhone. Harnessing the power of iOS 7 as well as Apple’s new MFi controller framework, you can more or less say that GameCase is here to usher in a new era of mobile gaming. Whenever you game on your iOS 7-powered device with the GameCase hooked up, it offers a natural and familiar console quality feel. Sporting a couple of analog sticks and tactile buttons, it would be able to provide an increased level of accuracy and precision.

Apart from that, there is also a thoughtfully crafted design as well as non-slip rubber surface which will alleviate fatigue, paving the way for hours of comfortable and competitive play â€" as long as your device’s battery lasts, of course. Right now, GameCase and iOS developers are working together in order to roll out exciting new games which will be able to take advantage of the device’s incredible features.

There is still no word on pricing just yet, however, but would you be willing to pick up the GameCase when it is finally made available to the masses?

iwalkWhen it comes to the world of speakers, there are just way too many different models to choose from. Both of these will play nice with all Bluetooth equipped devices, where the speakers are more than capable of delivering heart pumping audio via a stylishly compact design. Needless to say, it will be a large step compared to conventional Bluetooth speaker designs; as the Sound Angle and Sound Angle Mini will take advantage of modish form factors alongside a bunch of joyful shades. The kind of design incorporated would seamlessly include both volume and track control buttons, in addition to a 3.5mm auxiliary input so that users who do not have Bluetooth-enabled devices are still able to use it to play music from such sources, such as older school MP3 players and DVD/CD players among others.

Harris Bernstein, vice president of sales and marketing for iWALK, shared, “We designed the Sound Angle and Sound Angle Mini to be portable and sleek, but to still deliver the same sound quality found in bigger and more expensive speakers.” The Sound Angle Mini could be used to describe the proverb, “Do not judge a book by its cover”, where it delivers amazing power in a compact design. The internal battery delivers up to 4 hours of continuous music playback, while a microSD memory card slot is able to support MP3 format music to deliver direct music playback. Apart from that, it will automatically select shuffle play whenever it uses the microSD memory card.

Chipster iPhone Case takes minimalist cases a bit too far

by - on July 22nd, 2013

When you go out and buy a new smartphone, you usually end up dropping a couple hundred bucks, if not more. So it makes sense to spend a little extra money to protect your investment. I’m not talking about those extended warranties that don’t help when you drop your phone and crack the screen. No, I’m talking about cases that save your phone when you drop it. It’s a smart idea, since buying a new phone the second time around tends to cost even more, since you won’t be paying that subsidized cost. With that in mind, I have an interesting case to show you today.

The Chipster iPhone Case has to be one of the most confusing products I’ve seen in a while. Generally, the reason a person buys a smartphone case is to protect their phone. So at the very least, it has a nice rubber or plastic coating that can take drops, hits, and scrapes like a champ. So why on earth would you make a case out of chipboard? If you’re not familiar with chipboard, it’s basically just a thick paper stock made from recycled materials. What’s more, it only covers the top and bottom of the iphone on the front. Even the sides are completely exposed.

The only feature that this case has is that it can store up to three credit cards. While that is a nice feature to have, plenty of other cases offer it. And while the $25 price isn’t exactly expensive, you can find others in that price range that are actually going to offer some protection for your phone.

Steel Series Apex Keyboard – Just try to stop me

by Caitlyn - on September 20th, 2013

Apex Steel Series Keyboard
There are a lot of choices in terms of keyboards out there for gamers. They always tout having the least amount of latency, extra keys, backlighting, and more features than you have fingers for. Each seems to be more dazzling than the next, but how many of us actually use all of these fancy additions to their fullest?

The Apex Keyboard comes to us from SteelSeries, a company known for its production of quality gaming gear. Judging from the title, this piece of hardware is meant to be the top of the top, with no competition being able to match its greatness. Of course, there will always be one better, but this is a pretty snazzy keyboard. Instead of having regular backlit keys, it has 5 different zones which can all be lit in a huge variety of colors so you know which section controls what.

There are 22 macro keys, with 4 different layers (each layer has its own button on the keyboard), and a SteelSeries button will allow you additional functionality like disabling the Windows key so you don’t have any unfortunate mishaps. These keys are very low profile, and the ‘w’ has two bumps on it so your fingers will be able to quickly realize where they should be so you can get back to the action. For all of those music lovers, there are independent media buttons that will give you all the normal volume controls, skip, back, and more. This will cost you $99, but good luck on actually using this to its fullest potential. For those of you who are wondering, this is not mechanical. While this might not be the first pick of professional gamers, it seems that those of us who play casually (or more than we should) would get plenty of enjoyment out of this piece of hardware.

Cuddle Mattress literally brings couples closer together

by - on September 20th, 2013

cuddle-mattressThere is nothing quite like cuddling up to your other half, and the entire experience is made all the more cozy when it is raining or cold outside, while the both of you are under the sheets. The actors and actresses in the movies make it seem all too easy, they go to sleep looking sharp, and wake up without a strand of hair out of place, breath that is worthy of any perfume bottle, not to mention missing those panda eyes. Of course, even better is, they have slept throughout the night holding one another without ever being apart. With the Cuddle Mattress, you might not be able to achieve all of the above where looking great physically is concerned, but you can definitely try to see whether this mattress lives up to its name as the two of you snooze through the night.

Cuddling is great, although for most of us, it works well within a short period of time, before the negatives kick in â€" an overall feeling of numbness, tingling, as well as the unintentional kicks. The Cuddle Mattress was specially designed to literally remove the pain of getting close to your other half. It looks like a normal mattress, although it has been divided into different sections to make the entire cuddling business extremely comfortable. Mehdi Motjabavi is the person behind the Cuddle Mattress, which he has plans and dreams to see it transformed into a viable product.

Basically, the Cuddle Mattress will be able to solve any dead-arm-in-bed issues thanks to the creation of space for the cuddling arm so that it does not end up getting squashed. As mentioned earlier, the Cuddle Mattress will feature a slew of sections, and the central section was designed to support your torso, while the top and bottom ends have been sliced apart. This allows you to slide your arm in between two of the slices when cuddling your partner so that no compression is experienced. If you are part of the Forever Alone brigade, fret not, you can also use this to sleep comfortably on your side.

Adobe takes to new hardware like Project Mighty and Napoleon

by - on September 19th, 2013

adobe-mighty-penWho would have thought that Adobe would churn out hardware apart from software that they are so famous for? Adobe originally shared their vision for the Creative Cloud at MAX, where they claimed that this would open up the door for innovation and ultimately, help empower a new generation of creative folk. Of course, in order to make that vision come to pass, Adobe has decided to dip their toes into the world of creative hardware, and in this particular milestone, Adobe has introduced the idea of two devices â€" the cloud pen known as Project Mighty as well as the digital ruler that they call Project Napoleon. In order to bring both devices to pass as part of our reality, Adobe has teamed up with Adonit, who happens to be an awesome band of manufacturers that also believe in the power of creative devices that are paired with apps and services. The Adobe Mighty and Napoleon are tipped to ship sometime in the first half of next year.

In an early demonstration of Project Mighty, this unique creative pen happens to be pressure sensitive, which allow the artist in you to draw out natural and expressive lines. Not only that, the Project Mighty will be hooked up to the Creative Cloud, which enables one to tote one’s favorite personal digital assets wherever he or she goes, in addition to brushes and colors, not to mention the ability to copy and paste across devices, among others. No longer do you have to make the either-or decision of having the accuracy, expressiveness and immediacy of pen and paper while sacrificing the wonders of the Creative Cloud. Folks who are familiar with Wacom’s digitizer tablet should be able to resonate with Project Mighty right from the get go.

Needless to say, pricing and availability details remain unclear, but rest assured, Adobe will reveal additional information in due time.

Topcor Tech Wallet – puts all of your essentials in one spot

by Caitlyn - on September 17th, 2013

Topcor Tech Wallet
There are so many gadgets and gizmos that we carry around during the day and it seems like there are only going to be more of them. You want your MP3 player, phone, tablet, laptop, headphones, backup battery, extra cables, and a few different flashlight options for those ‘just in case’ times. OK, I’m exaggerating, but we do carry around a lot more than we need to. When it comes down to it, all you really need are your cards, maybe some cash, and your phone.

It’s hard trying to downsize, and normally you still need to worry about keeping both your phone and money holder within your general vicinity. The Topcor Tech Wallet will make sure your wallet and your phone don’t stray too far away from each other. While there are many cases that have a sort of card/money holder integrated in, this is a different take.

The Tech Wallet uses an adhesive pad to stick to your phone case, and utilizes a low-profile hook and loop (velcro) to keep the your phone and wallet together. You’ll have to apply the backing with some amount of precision, but it is removable with some heat and finagling. The wallet can hold 8 cards, 12 bills, and four or more business cards. Made of nylon and coming only in black, this will cost you around $20 if you’re interested. The wallet can be used as a stand aside from its main function in either portrait or landscape mode. This will play nice with the iPhone 4 and 5, Galaxy S3, HTC One, and just about any other smartphone as it’s just a sticky Velcro pad and wallet.

Paperback for the iPhone 5 wants you to remember to pick up some milk

by Caitlyn - on September 16th, 2013

PAPERBACK-groceries
Slowly but surely, we’re filtering our use of paper out completely as we use phones, tablets, and computers more. Of course, many of us are used to writing things down with ink or graphite, and typing just doesn’t feel the same. This is especially the case when you get to cross things off on a sizable to-do list. It is a complete waste of paper, but there’s a different sense of accomplishment that comes from this method rather than backspacing something off of a note.

If you don’t want to completely give up on your old habits, then the Paperback for the iPhone 5 will assist you. There may be apps to do this exact function, but if your phone dies or breaks, you’re going to be sad about life pretty quickly. This is an iPhone 5-sized stack of post-it notes that will stick to the back of your case. This means you can doodle, take notes, or write down directions if you don’t want to unlock your phone, find the notepad, wait for the keyboard to load properly, and type it in.

This may only save you a few seconds of time, but there are times in life where you don’t want to wait on your phone to get up to speed. If you have this first world problem, then these are available for $8, and only come in yellow. It is a stack of them, so you can choose how many you stick on at once. The only fear I would have is their adhesive nature not being strong enough to withstand the abuse my phone goes through daily and falling off on the regular.

I’m constantly finding things I need to have, but can’t get here in the States. For instance, the company that makes Spain’s Atkinson Cologne for men won’t ship to the U.S. The oh-so-tasty Bovril beefy paste… can’t get it here. There are a ridiculous number of useful, fun, or simply unique items and gadgets around the world that I can’t just order, and have show up on my doorstep. While I still don’t have an answer for those of us that live here in the United States, I do have something that might be useful for those of you that don’t, and want our stuff, at your house.

Check out HopShopGo.com, a new web service that allows PayPal customers to shop at their favorite American stores and have their purchases forwarded on to them, wherever they may be. It works something like this, you register for HopShopGo.com and get your U.S. shipping address and then start shopping. Have your packages delivered to your U.S. address, where they can be held for up to a month awaiting more of your deliveries. Decide when and where you want to ship your packages, and they will be  consolidated and sent on to you, with a 10% discount on your international shipping rates! You can even track them in real-time as they leave your U.S. address on their way to your door.

You don’t have to worry about who will take your credit cards, coordinating shipping, or exorbitant fees, you just shop at your favorite stores (or use one of HopShopGo’s personal shoppers) and PayPal’s buyer protection plan will even cover the cost of your purchases, including the shipping. So if you love stuff from places like Target or Amazon, Nike or Victoria’s Secret… HopShopGo has got you covered. Visit HopShopGo.com for more information, and if you happen to have any Bovril or Atkinson’s that you’re trying to unload… I’m your girl.

HDTV from Seiki takes on a retro look

by - on September 16th, 2013

seikiWhen it comes to the world of fashion, it is said that the old never really go out of style permanently. Sure, whatever is hip and happening at the moment might be shelved shortly for the next fad, but it will return eventually to make its mark once again sometime down the road, although as to when that will happen remains to be seen. I suppose the same can be said of design, as everyone loves a little bit of retro once in a while. Seiki Digital decided to take a modern day consumer electronics device and give it a touch of retro, resulting in the 22-inch Retro Design HDTV (which carries the model number SE22FR01).

The Retro Design HDTV’s name alone gives the game away, being a new and colorful nostalgic HDTV model. Depending on how you would want it to fit into your room, it will arrive in multiple retro colors such as Retro Red, Mid-century Yellow, Electric Blue, Doo-wop Purple, and Cadillac Pink. Not only that, you will also find the clock being dialled back thanks to the Retro Design HDTV’s power and volume dials.

Of course, do not be fooled by its looks, as the Retro Design HDTV will still come with all the bells and whistles of today’s HDTVs, and they include Full HD 1080p resolution on a 21.5” diagonal LED panel, 60Hz panel refresh rate, HDMI, component/composite, and VGA ports, and a remote control. Your ears too, will appreciate the fact that this HDTV will boast of a built-in subwoofer that delivers an amazing sound experience.

If you are interested in picking up the Retro Design HDTV, it will retail for $329 a pop. The one major drawback that I can say would affect sales figures of this particular HDTV would be the size. Compared to modern day HDTVs, the amount of chunkiness of this CRT impostor is definitely not going to go down well with those who love sleek and slim designs in their homes.

Garmin delivers two more GPS running watches – the Garmin Forerunner 620 and Forerunner 220

by - on September 16th, 2013

garmin-forerunner-620Some of us like the feeling of running â€" it makes us feel extremely light, not to mention that running happens to be great exercise for one to burn all those additional calories that have accumulated around the waist. Having said that, Garmin, a name that is synonymous with GPS navigation devices, has just unveiled a couple of GPS running watches, and they are known as the Garmin Forerunner 620 and Forerunner 220. Both of them are said to be the lightest, thinnest, most advanced offerings for runners from Garmin, making it your very own non-living personal running coach.

Let us take a look at the Forerunner 620 first â€" it will arrive with a bunch of advanced features including recovery advisor, race predictor and VO2 max estimate that will come in handy in helping runners train smarter and to achieve new race goals. When used in tandem with the NEW HRM-Run monitor, the Forerunner 620 will also be able to deliver the relevant feedback on running form. Assuming you prefer to hit the treadmill instead of pound the pavement, both the 620 and 220 will feature a built-in accelerometer that is capable of tracking distance and pace, meaning you do not need to obtain a separate sensor. Either way, these two models will come with Garmin’s special one-inch Chroma color display.

Not only that, equipped with Bluetooth Smart wireless upload capabilities, the Forerunner 620 and 220 are capable of sending runners’ run data to the Garmin online community known as Garmin Connect, all without requiring one to be tethered to a computer as a compatible smartphone will do the job. Sony Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition offers a brand new “toy” to play with in the kitchen

by - on September 15th, 2013

sony-xperia-tablet-kitchenThe Sony Xperia Tablet Z is by no doubt a tablet that has picked up its fair share of bouquets and accolades ever since it was released, and it was even recognized as the Best Power Performer Android tablet by Good Housekeeping’s September 2013 issue. Fans of this tablet would most probably ask themselves, is there more to the Sony Xperia Tablet Z than meets the eye? The answer would be an affirmative “Yes!”, as Sony Mobile has just lifted the veil on the Sony Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition.

Yes sir, who would have thought that a tablet would end up with a Kitchen Edition suffix at the end of its name? I mean, this is certainly the first of its kind for a commercial tablet, although we have seen some kitchen-centric tablets in the past. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition would come in the form of a white 32GB Xperia Tablet Z, where it will obviously arrive with the relevant software to boot in order to ensure that your experience in the kitchen is a whole lot more simple and definitely far more convenient.

Thanks to its durable glass, carbon-fiber reinforced back panel and water-resistant design, the Xperia Tablet Z is capable of withstanding the toughest kitchen environment. It does not matter if things start to get messy with your hands and your Xperia Tablet Z gets stuck with spills and sticky fingerprints, those can be rinsed away in a jiffy through running the tablet or even submerging the tablet under fresh water for up to 3 feet, and it can do so for half an hour tops â€" just make sure that all of the ports and covers remain firmly closed!

I will not touch on the hardware specifications since it has been covered in the past, but rather, concentrate on what is new. The new Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition will be accompanied by $115 worth of accessories, content and recipes, where among them include the iGrill from iDevices, apps such as BigOven, Evernote Food, Juicing Recipes, and Food Planner Pro. The asking price for the Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition stands at $649 a pop.

We live in a world where just about any mobile device that one carries these days â€" be they smartphones or tablets, are capable of playing back some music. And the amount of storage that these portable devices hold can reach insane levels, in fact, a whole lot more than your regular hard drive back in 2000. This would mean you would be spoilt for choice when it comes to the amount of songs that you can listen to, and chances are you would not have enough time to go through the entire playlist in a single setting. The thing is, sometimes, you want to share your eclectic taste in music with your mates, and your smartphone’s speaker just ain’t cutting it. Good thing there are alternatives out there like the $99.95 Portable Solar Powered Speaker.

The speaker would pair up with a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or other wireless music player, where audio is played back via a 2.5”, 3-watt full-range speaker which delivers crisp sound. Its rechargeable battery has been rated to deliver up to eight hours of operation from a five-hour charge thanks to its built-in solar panel, and it comes with a rugged, water-resistant IPX4-rated exterior to boot.

Firewalker LED Sneakers – step up and shine on

by Caitlyn - on September 11th, 2013

Firewalker Sneakers
There are so many people in the world that it’s hard to stand out amongst the crowd. We all have our ways of creating our individuality, but what should matter most is your approach. You can buy your self image, but why do that when you can shape it with your own two hands?

The Firewalker LED Sneakers will definitely set you apart from the average Joe walking down the street. Mainly because light-up shoes were only in when we were little. However, these sneakers are far more awesome than children’s shoes, because there’s soldering and sewing involved! This DIY project will not only let you stand out amongst your peers, but you’ll also get the feeling of accomplishment from creating something that many people are undoubtedly going to comment on.

For this project you’re going to need conductive thread, FLORA boards, velostat, a pair of sneakers, a battery pack, and 2 meters of LED strip. There are some other tools such as sandpaper, tape, adhesive, and so on, but those won’t cost as much and are much easier to find (you may already have them sitting at home). As I mentioned above, you will need some cutting, sewing, and soldering skills to make these yourself, but that’s part of the fun, right? Depending on what type of shoes you buy, this could be somewhat costly of an endeavor, but maybe your attachment to your snazzy sneakers will have you keeping them in better shape for longer. This will definitely catch the eyes of passersby if you have the courage to wear them and deal with the remarks you’ll get.

Pressy keeps your smartphone on task

by Caitlyn - on September 14th, 2013

Pressy
If you have a smartphone, then you understand how unintelligent they can be at times. While they are definitely rather useful for everyday use, they can get a little off task here and there. Asking for directions will redirect you to calling someone, and one misplaced finger will have you opening an app that will take two minutes to close. We use them for so many different functions now that it’s no wonder things can get a little confusing, but is there a way to make it simple again?

Doing one task on your phone normally takes several steps, and moving from app to app takes more time than we think it does. The Pressy is tiny, simple, and will make using a smartphone even easier than it already is. This is a tiny button that you plug into the headphone jack of your phone that will allow you to easily access the aspects of your phone you use regularly. It works in tandem with an app that will let you customize the amount and length of presses it takes to perform certain functions. The types of clicks that you put in are similar to Morse Code. It is comprised of a combination of long and short depressions.

This will let you snap photos, turn on your flashlight, record voice, check in on social media outlets, and more. The big part is that you won’t need to unlock your phone, get to the app, open it, and navigate the interface there. With Pressy, it’s press-and-go. This is currently a completely funded crowd-funding project, and one of these will cost you around $20. If you’re worried about finding it a home when you’re using your headphones, it comes with a keychain to keep it safe while you jam out, and the headphone buttons can be used in the same way Pressy is in its absence.

Wacom Bamboo Pad sports navigation gestures this time around

by - on September 13th, 2013

bamboo-padWe took a closer look at two second generation styli from Wacom yesterday, and here we are with yet another offering from the folks over at Wacom in the form of the Wacom Bamboo Pad. This is no ordinary tablet from Wacom, as it will feature support for navigation gestures in addition to its bread and butter, which happen to be drawing and handwriting capabilities. The moment you plug a Wacom Bamboo Pad into your Windows 8 or Windows 7-powered computer, the Bamboo Pad would be able to serve up an authentic and more natural navigation experience right on the spot.

Wacom would see it as an insult if one were to just describe the Bamboo Pad as a yet another touch pad in the market, as it does far more than that. Folks who have a penchant to throw in a personal signature, a drawing or some handwritten comments to their documents are able to enjoy the Wacom Bamboo Pad in a whole new way. It does not matter if you are proverbially chained to your desk for long hours on end, the Bamboo Pad’s ultra-slim form factor would pave the way for a comfortable user experience even through the entire day.

If one were to compare the Bamboo Pad to a standard computer mouse, the Bamboo Pad offers natural feeling multi-touch gestures, especially when you are using Windows 8. Not only that, communication would end up to be even more visual oriented and fun as well, as you can throw in snippets of your own personality such as adding sketches, drawings or handwriting with the included stylus.

How about Mac users? Windows 7 and Windows 8 users just need to plug in the Bamboo Pad in order to activate the device, but Apple computer owners running on MacOS 10.7 or later will first need to install a driver that can be downloaded via the Wacom support website. The Wacom Bamboo Pad would arrive in wired and wireless versions, retailing for $49 and $79, respectively.

iPhone / iPad Pocket Projector – Movie Theater, To Go

by Julie - on September 13th, 2013

410V7Fv6n4L._SX385_

Everyone I know loves their iDevices, not all of them are simply Apple addicts, many of them just genuinely enjoy the whole iOS experience. I have to admit I do too, but I recognize some shortcomings that keep them from being truly excellent. I also have given some thought to what kind of accessories I would need to make the iPhone or iPad even more fun and useful.

One of those accessories might be the the iPhone/iPad Pocket Projector. Compact enough to fit in your purse or pocket the iPhone/iPad Pocket Projector projects your iPhone’s screen directly onto any flat surface from less than a foot away to as far as 10 feet, projecting an image that reaches up to 85” diagonal. I imagine pictures, movies and presentations… useful at work, and fun with the kids during their next sleepover.

The projector weighs in at less than 5 oz and is smaller than a smartphone. The iPhone/iPad Pocket Projector can turn your ceiling, tent, blank wall or even the side of your house into a movie theater. The projector’s 640 x 480 pixel resolution ensures a nice picture and a manual focus wheel enables you to “dial up” sharpness and clarity, your iDevice’s speakers control the sound though, so extra speakers might need to be on the menu as well.

You can also download a free app, which will then enable you to magnify or rotate images and project everything from YouTube videos to a 4 hour search for the perfect prom dress. The internal lithium-polymer battery provides two hours of projection and recharges via USB with the included cable. Compatible with most iPhones/iPads, except the iPhone 5, the new iPad with Retina Display and the iPad Mini. Get yours for under 300 bucks at amazon.com

Wacom introduces new Bamboo styli range

by - on September 12th, 2013

bamboo-stylusWhen it comes to digitizer tablets, the name Wacom would surely resonate with many of us, especially artists who have taken to the stylus like a duck to water, instead of relying on the traditional pencil and paper methods. Having said that, Wacom has a couple of new Bamboo styli for you to consider â€" the Bamboo Stylus solo and Bamboo Stylus duo. Both of these will arrive as second-generation and improved versions of the popular range of digital styli which was originally rolled out back in 2011. The Bamboo Stylus solo happens to come across as a stylus that will cater for touchscreen devices such as the iPad, where it sports a protective cap for the rubber nib this time around. As for the Bamboo Stylus duo, this is a two-in-one solution that comes with not only a stylus for touchscreen displays, but also caters for those unexpected moments when your John Hancock is required, hence a ballpoint pen function is also thrown into the mix for good measure.

Both the Bamboo Stylus solo and Bamboo Stylus duo have been described to offer a best-in-class pen-like experience, sporting an elegant, premium design. Your eyes will definitely be taken in by the soft touch paint located on the barrel as well as the color-coordinated, polished anodized aluminium cap that will set these styli apart from the rest that you can find in the market. Wacom knows that everyone has different tastes, which is why they have launched either version to arrive in a slew of colors to fit just about any mood, while maintaining a black and a white version for those more serious moments.

Not only that, your writing and drawing experience should also go up by a notch, as it comes with an even slimmer rubber nib that measures just 5mm, with the body of the stylus feeling solid and balanced in hand. Those who are interested in the second-generation Bamboo Stylus solo and Bamboo Stylus duo will have to fork out $19 and $29, respectively, as they arrive to the market later next month.

HP Chromebook14 carries Intel’s latest Haswell CPU within

by - on September 12th, 2013

hp-chromebook-14Where do you turn to when you want a highly affordable notebook that gets the job done as well as handles all of the basics in a cinch, such as checking your email, reading 9gag, and booking movie tickets? An Ultrabook might sound like overkill if you are on a tight budget, and since netbooks have more or less gone the way of the dodo, perhaps it is time to try something different. Have you ever considered picking up a Chromebook instead? HP has just announced their latest entry into the Chromebook market by introducing the HP Chromebook14 to the masses which offers powerful performance as well as a new connectivity option.

The HP Chromebook14 is special because it happens to be the first Chromebook that is powered by an Intel Haswell processor, all the while offering fast access to the web so that you are able to tackle tasks even when you are on the move, alongside optional 4G for enhanced connectivity. In a move that some might say follow Apple’s footsteps, the HP Chromebook14 would also arrive in an array of eye-catching colors.

The HP Chromebook14 would allow you to hook up to your favorite websites in a matter of seconds, where it acts as a gateway to the Google experience, including Google Chrome apps such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google+ Hangouts. Not only that, automatic software updates ensures that the browsing experience remains fast, fluid and current. Your eyes will definitely be soothed by the 14-inch diagonal high-definition display, while for on-board storage, a 16GB SSD gets the job done. The Game Capture HD II will let you record, edit, and share console game footage

by Caitlyn - on September 11th, 2013

Game Capture HD II
There are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of videos on the Internet of people playing video games. Some come with commentary, some just have background music. While a handful are actually enjoyable to watch, there are always people out there who decide they can do one better than everyone else. If you want to break into the vast world of Let’s Plays, you’re going to need the right equipment. Your first choice will be the platform that you choose.

Choosing to do things on a computer is usually the easiest as everything is right in front of you from the game to editing and posting. If you’re wanting to do things on console, it’s usually going to be more difficult as you need to deal with editing on a PC. The Game Capture HD II will allow you to record footage, provide commentary, edit, and share your finished video directly from the device. That’s right, no PC involvement whatsoever. It supports 1080p video, and will work with many platforms including the PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One when it comes out.

This will let you pause and resume recording, which means you can go eat dinner and pick up where you left off if you were on a roll. There’s also an option for watermarks if you’re worried about that sort of thing. This will be utilizing your smartphone to show you your recording status, files, and will act as a remote control. The iOS version is already available in the App Store, and the Android version will be available soon. There’s no pricing just yet, but seeing that their other products range from about $150-250, you can guess the bracket.

Apple iPhone 5S announced, Touch ID looks interesting

by - on September 11th, 2013

iphone-5sI guess all of that waiting has finally paid off â€" Apple finally decided to lift up the veil on the iPhone 5S, and whether that particular device has proven itself to be the “tonic” that Cupertino requires in order to bring the iPhone brand to the next level remains to be seen, as the proverbial crystal ball is really too murky to look into at the moment. First of all, let us bring you the features of the iPhone 5S that Apple so painstakingly wants to point out to you â€" a 64-bit A7 chip, an all-new 8 megapixel iSight camera with True Tone Flash and of course, the wonders of its Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

One thing I can say about the new iPhone 5S is, if your Home button starts to act all wonky, do expect it to be a whole lot more expensive to replace assuming it is no longer under warranty, no thanks to the inclusion of the fingerprint sensor that has been built right into the Home button itself. Apple also prides in the iPhone 5S as the “world’s first smartphone with 64-bit desktop-class architecture”, although a lot of the processor’s performance would only be fully utilized depending on how the software’s code is written.

Touch ID happens to be the most interesting development for a smartphone, as it offers an innovative manner for you to simply and securely unlock your handset â€" with but a single touch of a finger. Not only that, another major improvement under the hood would be iOS 7, which happens to be the most significant iOS update since the original iPhone, where it was specially engineered for 64-bit technology while boasting its fair share of new features such as Control Center, Notification Center, improved Multitasking, AirDrop, enhanced Photos, Safari, Siri and iTunes Radio.

The iPhone 5S would arrive in gold, silver or space gray, where it will feature 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities which will retail for $199, $299 and $399, respectively.

Jabra Solemate Mini perfect for music loving travelers

by - on September 10th, 2013

Jabra-Solemate-MiniA dog’s bark might be worse than its bite, or so the saying goes. How about performance of a piece of consumer electronics that is small in size, but it might be large in capability? I think that is just the perception that Jabra intends to put across with the introduction of the Jabra Solemate Mini, where it might be compact in size, but is more than capable of delivering surprisingly big sound. For those of you out there who tend to do a whole lot of traveling, and yet have a great love for music (and want to share that love most of the time), the Jabra Solemate Mini would seem to be a suitable travel companion, as it is capable of pumping out the tunes of your choice from a compatible source as long as there is juice left within.

Just what kind of performance can we expect from the Jabra Solemate Mini? Well, it is decent enough for everyday music, but if you are thinking of it to roll out an audiophile-worthy experience, then forget about it. We do know that the Jabra Solemate Mini will appeal to the younger crowd though as it comes in red, yellow, blue or black shades later in the fourth quarter of the year for $99 a pop.

Apart from the Jabra Solemate Mini, Jabra has also taken this opportunity to announce an enhanced version of the Jabra Solemate, which would see it come with an enriched sound experience and usability, NFC pairing, and a quartet of eye popping shades â€" red, blue, yellow and grey. Not only that, the refreshed Solemate will also feature the new Jabra Sound App with Dolby Digital Plus sound, which would pave the way for you to stream YouTube music videos and on-device stored content all the while using the offline feature for playback. This refreshed Solemate, too, will be made available sometime in Q4 this year for $149.99 a pop.

Panasonic Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 is first 20” tablet with 4K resolution display in the world

by - on September 10th, 2013

panasonic-toughpadI am quite sure that by now, many of us would have set our sights on Apple unveiling a new iPhone, or perhaps even two if plenty of pre-release photos of a budget-oriented iPhone 5C were to be believed, in addition to the possibility of a new tablet. Well, regardless of what tablet Apple announces later today, if any, I am convinced that it will not be able to hold a candle to the size as well as resolution of the Panasonic Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 tablet. After all, this bad boy is touted to be the first 20” tablet in the world that sports 4K resolution, now how about that for some truly eye popping visuals?

The Panasonic Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 tablet was specially developed for sales, marketing and media professionals as part of their high end and new Ultra-High Definition Toughpad range. Make no mistake about it, this was never meant to be a commercial tablet for the masses, but rather, it will be a specialist performance model that is ideal for 3D modelling and CAD applications, and would come in handy when it is used in the hands of technical professionals such as engineers, architects and designers.

Your eyes will appreciate the 4K resolution which is said to be over four times better than HD at 3840 x 2560 pixels, and the name itself, the Toughpad 4K UT-MB5, also lends a rather obvious clue that this is going to be one business-minded yet rugged, portable tablet which will be able to break new ground in digital viewing with 4K resolution, collaborative working with touchscreen capabilities as well as feature a special Panasonic Electronic Touch Pen for pin-point accuracy and annotation. Other hardware specifications include a 15:10 aspect ratio and 230 pixels per inch, which makes it more than ideal to display large images, A3 drawings, brochures and multimedia. It will run on an Intel Core i5 processor, has up to 8GB RAM, and boasts of NVIDIA GeForce graphics, tipping the scales at 2.35kg and measuring 12.5mm thin.
